The Route Sales Professional role at Bimbo Bakeries USA offers an exciting opportunity to join the world’s largest baking company with national reach. This first-shift position begins early at 5 a.m., with a desirable schedule that includes Wednesdays and Sundays off. The position offers competitive pay, starting at a weekly base pay of $284 plus commission, averaging $52,000 to $60,000 annually, along with full medical, dental, vision benefits, and a retirement plan.

The primary responsibility of a Route Sales Professional is to ensure that bakery products are properly merchandised, stocked, and rotated on store shelves and displays to maintain the highest standards of freshness and quality. The role involves actively driving sales by seeking new display opportunities, setting up incremental displays, and utilizing sales data to strategize at the store level. As a key player in customer engagement, the Route Sales Professional builds strong relationships with clients, follows up on new account prospects, and ensures promotion execution while introducing new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space. Additionally, the role requires managing daily route settlement procedures, including accounting for all products, invoices, cash, and inventory, and safely operating the company truck in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations. Timely submission of required documentation, paperwork, and deposits is also essential. This role demands strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. The Route Sales Professional not only directly contributes to sales growth but also helps uphold the company’s reputation for quality and customer satisfaction in the marketplace.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain Chauffeur License if job location is in IN, MI, TN
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD (Direct Sales Distribution) is preferred
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records

Job Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successful ability to obtain Chauffeur License if located in IN, MI, TN
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD (Direct Sales Distribution) preferred
  • Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and understand signage
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to operate delivery vehicles safely and comply with transportation regulations

Job Duties

  • Merchandise, stock, and ensure the proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee the best quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring the execution of promotions
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products, invoices, and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT daily logs
  • Submit other required documentation, paperwork, and deposits on time
