The Route Rider position at Bimbo Bakeries USA offers an exciting opportunity to join the largest baking company in the world. This role is essential in ensuring the availability of fresh bakery products by managing product merchandising, stocking, and promotion in retail locations. The Route Rider is responsible for driving a route truck safely, managing inventory, conducting sales activities including securing new display spaces and executing promotions, and building strong customer relationships. This full-time role offers a first-shift schedule with Wednesdays and Sundays off, providing a balanced work-life arrangement. With a weekly base pay of $383 plus commission, the position offers an annual average salary ranging from $60,000 to $70,000, along with full benefits including medical, dental, vision, and a retirement plan.
As a Route Rider, you will play a critical role in Bimbo Bakeries USA's distribution and sales network. You will be merchandising and stocking products in retail stores, ensuring that shelves and displays are well stocked and properly rotated to maintain product freshness and quality. Driving sales by creating and setting up additional display spaces and using sales data to implement effective store-level strategies will be a key responsibility. You will also follow up on new account opportunities, introduce new products and services, and build lasting customer relationships through excellent service. Additionally, the role requires conducting daily route settlements, handling invoices, cash, and maintaining precise inventory records. Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations, including completing mandatory daily logs and maintaining necessary documentation, is required to ensure safety and efficiency in route operations.
This position not only demands excellent driving skills but also physical ability to perform various tasks such as climbing, bending, and pushing. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
- Ability to obtain chauffeur license if job location is in IN MI or TN
- Ability to climb push pull bend stoop and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
- 1-3 years of related experience in direct sales distribution preferred
- Ability to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the public understand highway signs and respond to official inquiries consistent with DOT regulations
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- 1-3 years of experience in direct sales distribution or related field preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record required
- Ability to obtain and maintain DOT medical card required
- Ability to obtain chauffeur license if job location is in IN MI or TN
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing pushing pulling bending stooping kneeling and frequent reaching
- Proficiency in reading and speaking English to comply with DOT regulations
Job Duties
- Merchandise stock and ensure proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee quality and freshness
- Drive sales by securing new display space setting up incremental displays and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
- Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring execution of promotions
- Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
- Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products invoices and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
- Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT daily logs
- Submit required documentation paperwork and deposits on time
