The Route Rider position at Bimbo Bakeries USA offers an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about driving sales, building strong customer relationships, and ensuring optimal product presentation and availability in retail locations. Route Riders are responsible for merchandising, stocking shelves, rotating products to guarantee quality and freshness, and securing new display space to boost product visibility and sales. They play a critical role in introducing new products, following up on new account opportunities, and maintaining accurate route settlement procedures such as inventory counts, invoices, and cash handling.

This role combines customer service, sales, and logistics, requiring candidates to safely operate company trucks while completing Department of Transportation (DOT) daily logs and submitting necessary documentation on time. The role offers a weekly base pay of $260 plus commission, which averages between $55,000 and $63,000 annually. The work schedule includes two days off, Wednesday and Sunday, providing employees with a balanced work-life rhythm. Successful candidates will have a valid driver’s license, be able to obtain and maintain DOT medical certification, and possess the physical capability to perform tasks involving climbing, bending, and kneeling. Prior experience in Direct Sales Distribution (DSD) is preferred.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Must be able to acquire and maintain a DOT medical card
  • Successfully able to obtain Chauffeur License (If job location is in IN, MI, TN)
  • Ability to climb, push/pull, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods as well as perform frequent reaching and use of fingers
  • 1-3 years of related experience in DSD (Direct Sales Distribution) is preferred
  • Consistent with United States Department of Transportation regulations, the ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.

Job Duties

  • Merchandise, stock, and ensure the proper rotation of products on store shelves and displays to guarantee the best quality and freshness
  • Drive sales by securing new display space, setting up incremental displays, and using sales data to inform store-level strategies
  • Follow up on new account opportunities and build strong customer relationships while ensuring the execution of promotions
  • Introduce new products and services to maximize sales and shelf space within existing accounts and when pursuing new customers
  • Conduct daily route settlement procedures to account for all products, invoices, and cash while maintaining proper inventory counts
  • Safely drive the company route truck and complete DOT (US Department of Transportation) daily logs
  • Submit other required documentation, paperwork, and deposits on time.
