This job opening is for a full-time Route Driver - Vending position located at the Canteen facility at 2888 19th Street Southeast, Salem, Oregon. The role operates on a schedule from Wednesday through Sunday, 6:00 am to 3:30 pm, with potential variation in hours during the weekend. The Route Driver position is crucial as it involves managing an established delivery route using company vehicles to supply products and maintain vending equipment. The driver serves as the primary representative of the company, expected to project professionalism, uphold the company's positive image, and maintain excellent client and customer relationships. This position combines driving duties with inventory and vending machine maintenance responsibilities, requiring someone who is self-reliant, detail-oriented, and customer service focused.

The Route Driver is responsible for ensuring vending machines are properly stocked, products are fresh with correct rotation, and vending equipment remains functional to meet client needs. This role offers excellent advancement potential, providing the foundation for employees to progress into entry-level management positions. Employees in this position receive comprehensive training and benefit from working independently while contributing to a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. Competitive pay ranges from $21.00 to $22.00 per hour, with additional opportunities to earn commission. Canteen also provides an internal employee referral bonus program.

Job Requirements

  • previous experience preferred
  • must have a valid driver's license
  • full time availability Wednesday through Sunday 6:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • able to lift 50 lbs. consistently
  • ability to operate or willingness to learn material handling equipment

  • willing to undergo training
  • excellent customer service skills

Job Qualifications

  • 3 years driving experience required
  • valid Non-CDL Class C (unless otherwise indicated by state) driver’s license, ensuring safe operation of company vehicles in accordance with traffic laws and conditions
  • preferred 1-2 years experience in a customer service position, or a minimum of 1 year of related experience
  • proficient with handheld computer, training provided
  • must be able to lift 50 lbs. on a consistent basis
  • ability to operate or willingness to learn material handling equipment (box truck, handcarts, etc.)
  • able to work independently, responsible for route, work unsupervised 98 percent of the work day

Job Duties

  • Maintain proper inventory levels and product distribution for vending machines
  • perform product rotation to ensure freshness at designated client locations for vending machines
  • provide client and customer satisfaction in every aspect of job performance
  • inform regular clients and customers of new products or services, listen to and resolve service complaints
  • set up merchandise and sales promotion displays or issue sales promotion materials to customers
  • accountable for all receipt of goods, invoices, delivery tickets, cash received or collected and product
  • perform other duties as assigned
