Job Description
Gold Medal Bakery is a family-owned bakery business operating as a fourth-generation establishment, proudly delivering fresh-baked goods throughout the New England region. With a rich history and tradition, the company operates around the clock to supply quality bakery products. Gold Medal Bakery is recognized for its commitment to quality, teamwork, and the strictest food safety standards. Its continuous pursuit of excellence enables it to serve a wide customer base while maintaining a stellar reputation in the bakery industry.
Gold Medal Bakery is now hiring a Route Driver to join its dedicated team. This role offers a competitive pay of $26.05 per hour and provides a stable career opportunity in a supportive, family-owned company. Route Drivers are essential to ensuring that freshly baked products reach customer locations and other company facilities safely and efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating a 26-foot box truck on established delivery runs, adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and company policies.
In this role, the driver is entrusted with transporting bakery goods in a clean and sanitary manner, always focusing on maintaining the highest degree of product quality and food safety. Duties include verifying and recording load counts, performing vehicle safety inspections, maintaining accurate logbooks, and adhering to federal and state mandated recordkeeping requirements. Candidates must display an unwavering commitment to caring, integrity, and company core values while fostering goodwill and excellent service with customers and the public.
Gold Medal Bakery’s Route Driver position demands the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, a good driving record, and compliance with all governmental license regulations including DOT medical requirements and substance use testing. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, effective communication skills, and the physical capability to handle loading and unloading duties involving bakery racks and trays. They must be adaptable to night driving and various weather conditions and maintain a neat personal appearance while driving courteously to positively represent the company.
This position requires physical stamina to exert up to 34 foot-pounds of initial force to move racks, the mental and visual ability to identify various products, and basic math skills to handle inventories and deliveries accurately. Gold Medal Bakery encourages teamwork and employee cooperation and offers ongoing training to maintain and improve professional skills. The company prioritizes a safe work environment, conducts regular safety meetings, and expects its employees to follow standard operating procedures closely to ensure consistent product quality.
Gold Medal Bakery is an equal opportunity employer committed to creating a diverse and inclusive work environment. They welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of race, religion, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, veteran status, disability, or other legally protected characteristics. This stable career opportunity with competitive pay and employee-focused values makes joining Gold Medal Bakery a rewarding next chapter in any driver’s professional journey.
