Job Description
UniFirst is a prominent international leader in the $18 billion-dollar garment services industry, with a workforce exceeding 16,000 team partners serving approximately 300,000 business customer locations across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. The company prides itself on being included in top industry rankings such as Selling Power magazine's "Best Companies to Sell For" and Forbes magazine's "Platinum 400 – Best Big Companies" list. UniFirst operates with a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, ensuring equal employment opportunity without discrimination based on race, color, gender, national origin, ancestry, religion, physical or mental disability, age, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, pregnancy, citizenship, or any other protected category. This inclusive culture extends to accommodations in the application process for individuals with medical conditions or disabilities.
Joining UniFirst as a Route Coverage Specialist offers a dynamic and essential role within a service-driven company dedicated to operational excellence and customer satisfaction. As a Route Coverage Specialist, you are a key service professional who plays an integral part in maintaining seamless delivery operations by stepping in to cover delivery routes when the primary Route Service Representatives (RSRs) are unavailable. This position requires agility, adaptability, and a proactive approach to managing multiple delivery routes efficiently.
The role encompasses learning the intricacies of multiple routes, including customer-specific requirements, to ensure consistent, top-tier service. You will be responsible for safely loading, transporting, and unloading clean garments, flat goods, and other products, while also collecting soiled items for return, adhering strictly to company standards and customer expectations. Your duties extend beyond delivery to include conducting inventory audits, managing invoices accurately, and maintaining your vehicle in a safe and presentable condition. A strong focus on safety is mandatory, with the expectation that you follow all traffic laws, safety standards, and company policies, safeguarding your well-being and that of customers.
Customer service excellence forms the heart of this role. The Route Coverage Specialist supports strong customer relationships through positive interactions and clear communication, independently resolving customer requests and problem-solving to ensure satisfaction and loyalty. Collaboration is key, as you will work closely with the Service and Management Teams to support new account setups, assist other Route Service Representatives, contribute to rerouting efforts, and participate in collections. Additionally, you will have opportunities to upsell and deepen customer engagement by providing valuable feedback and sharing market intelligence with location leadership.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals who thrive in a fast-paced environment that offers variety with each day bringing new routes and experiences. The job requires autonomy balanced with teamwork, allowing you to work independently while being supported by a collaborative network of colleagues across Service, Production, Sales, and Office Departments. The role demands physical stamina to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 pounds and maintain endurance throughout extended periods on your feet.
UniFirst offers competitive compensation packages inclusive of salary, 401(k) with company match, profit sharing, health and life insurance benefits, paid time off, employee discounts, tuition reimbursement, and continuous career development programs. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday day shifts, fostering a balance between professional responsibilities and personal life. Joining UniFirst means embarking on a rewarding career path that values service excellence, continuous learning, and diverse perspectives. If you are ready to step into a challenging yet fulfilling role that makes a tangible impact on customer satisfaction and operational success, the Route Coverage Specialist position at UniFirst provides an excellent platform to grow and succeed.
