Job Description

UniFirst is an international leader in the $18 billion garment services industry, employing over 16,000 team partners who serve 300,000 business customer locations throughout the U.S., Canada, and Europe. With a reputation for excellence demonstrated by being ranked in the top 10 of Selling Power magazine's "Best Companies to Sell For" list and recognized on Forbes magazine's "Platinum 400 - Best Big Companies" list, UniFirst stands as a respected and established organization renowned for its commitment to both customer satisfaction and employee growth. The company fosters an inclusive culture where diversity is valued, creating a supportive and dynamic work environment where all employees can thrive. UniFirst is also an equal opportunity employer dedicated to non-discriminatory hiring and employment practices, ensuring fair treatment for all individuals regardless of race, gender, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic. They also support accommodations for applicants throughout the hiring process.

The role of Route Coverage Specialist at UniFirst is a crucial service-oriented position designed for individuals who are proactive, adaptable, and committed to delivering exceptional customer service. As a Route Coverage Specialist, you will play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of UniFirst’s delivery and service routes by stepping in when regular Route Service Representatives are unavailable. This position requires you to become proficient in multiple delivery routes, learning detailed customer needs and ensuring that clean garments and related products are delivered safely and reliably on schedule. You will also be responsible for collecting used or soiled garments and handling product returns efficiently.

This dynamic, fast-paced position demands agility and excellent time management skills, as you will frequently encounter changing routes, varying weather conditions, and unique customer requirements. Your ability to problem-solve independently and communicate effectively with customers and management will be paramount to success in this role. You will work autonomously while also collaborating closely with various departments such as Service, Production, Sales, and Office to support account installations, rerouting efforts, collections, and upselling opportunities.

In your capacity as a Route Coverage Specialist, you will be expected to maintain operational excellence by managing invoices accurately, conducting routine inventory audits, and ensuring your vehicle is kept in safe and presentable condition. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, requiring strict adherence to all traffic laws, safety standards, and company policies for the protection of yourself, customers, and the organization.

UniFirst offers a robust compensation package to its Route Coverage Specialists, including competitive salaries, 401(k) with company match, profit sharing, health and life insurance, paid time off, employee discounts, and tuition reimbursement. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, daytime shifts, supporting a healthy work-life balance. UniFirst also provides continuous training and career development resources, enabling employees to advance professionally while being part of an inclusive and supportive workplace culture.

Joining UniFirst as a Route Coverage Specialist means becoming part of an established, service-driven company with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and employee success. It is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking a career that offers variety, autonomy, and the chance to grow within a reputable organization that values adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence.
