Job Description

UniFirst is a global leader in the garment services industry, serving over 300,000 business customer locations across the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Established as a prominent player in an $18 billion industry, UniFirst employs more than 16,000 team partners dedicated to delivering exceptional service and quality products to a diverse range of clients. The company has earned notable recognition, including placements in the top 10 of Selling Power magazine's "Best Companies to Sell For" and Forbes magazine's "Platinum 400 – Best Big Companies" lists. UniFirst champions diversity and inclusion, fostering a workplace that respects and values individuals from all backgrounds and experiences. As an equal opportunity employer, UniFirst ensures fair hiring practices and accommodations throughout the employment process for candidates with disabilities or special needs.

The Route Coverage Specialist at UniFirst plays a crucial role in maintaining seamless operations and customer satisfaction. This position is integral to supporting delivery functions by covering multiple routes when regular Route Service Representatives (RSRs) are unavailable. The role demands a proactive and adaptable professional who can effectively manage various routes, adapt to changing conditions, and provide excellent customer service at all times. As a Route Coverage Specialist, you will be trained on multiple delivery routes, gaining detailed knowledge of customer-specific requirements to ensure consistent service quality.

Day-to-day responsibilities include loading, transporting, and unloading garments, flat goods, and other products, while also collecting and securing soiled items for return. The position requires attention to operational details such as managing invoices, conducting inventory audits, and maintaining vehicle safety and cleanliness. A key component is problem-solving to resolve customer requests independently and collaborate closely with the Service and Management Teams. Additional duties include supporting new account installations, assisting RSR colleagues, participating in rerouting and collection efforts, and actively engaging in upselling to strengthen client relationships.

This fast-paced and dynamic opportunity suits candidates who thrive on variety and agility, as route assignments can change frequently, and environmental conditions may vary. The role offers a unique blend of independence and team collaboration, emphasizing autonomy while fostering strong communication and teamwork across various departments, including Service, Production, Sales, and Office.

UniFirst values core competencies such as time management, adaptability, and a customer-centric mindset. The company provides a supportive work environment with a Monday–Friday day shift schedule, promoting work-life balance. Compensation is competitive and includes a comprehensive benefits package, offering health and life insurance, 401(k) with company match, profit sharing, paid time off, employee discounts, and tuition reimbursement. Continuous training and opportunities for career growth further enhance the appeal of this role.

In summary, the Route Coverage Specialist position at UniFirst is ideal for individuals who are hardworking, dependable, tech-savvy, and eager to contribute to a service-driven organization. This role offers not only the chance to deliver exceptional customer service but also to become part of a respected company with ample prospects for advancement and professional development.
