At Airgas Daytona Beach, FL retail shop, the role of the Route Delivery Driver is vital to maintaining the high standards of customer service and operational efficiency the company is known for. This full-time position focuses on the safe and efficient delivery of compressed gas cylinders to local and regional business customers utilizing company-provided straight or box trucks. The Delivery Driver acts as the "face of Airgas," responsible not only for the timely transportation of products but also for maintaining stringent adherence to all safety protocols and government regulations such as those enforced by DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA. The position requires loading, unloading, delivering, and returning cylinders, frequent customer interaction, and sometimes supporting warehouse and dock operations.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A or B commercial driver's license
  • Valid medical examiner's card
  • Hazmat and airbrake certifications
  • Minimum one year of professional driving experience within the last five years or accredited driving school diploma with experience
  • Clean driving record with no more than two convictions or two at-fault accidents in the last three years
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets
  • Ability to lift 25 to 75 lbs routinely and up to over 125 lbs with equipment
  • Ability to drive hazardous cargo for up to 8 hours
  • Frequent bending required

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A or B commercial driver's license
  • Valid medical examiner's card
  • Hazmat and airbrake certifications
  • One year of prior Class A or B professional driving experience within the last five years with a clean driving record, or diploma from an accredited driving school plus one year of prior driving experience within the last five years
  • Ability to read and comprehend material safety data sheets
  • Ability to routinely lift 25 to 75 lbs and occasionally lift over 76 lbs with material handling equipment
  • Must be at least 21 years or older
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Knowledge of safety and compliance regulations related to hazardous materials handling

Job Duties

  • Safely load, deliver, and unload cylinders containing compressed gases to both external and internal customer locations
  • Accurately record deliveries and pick-ups on a load manifest, obtaining customer signatures for receipt
  • Collect empty, rejected, or unsold cylinders and return them to a plant or branch for refilling
  • Adhere to all Airgas safety standards (SAFECOR) and government regulations including DOT, EPA, FMCSA, FDA, and OSHA
  • Provide assistance in the warehouse or on the dock as needed
  • Maintain clean and organized vehicle and delivery area
  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members to ensure safe and timely deliveries
