Job Description
City Market Co-Op is a community-owned grocery cooperative committed to providing high-quality, locally sourced, organic and conventional food products to its customers. As a key player in the local food system, City Market Co-Op emphasizes sustainability, fair pricing, and supporting local farmers and producers. The cooperative operates multiple locations, fostering a strong connection between customers and the origin of their food while promoting healthy eating habits and environmental responsibility. The cooperative values inclusiveness, education, and community engagement, making it a trusted destination for those who care about where their food comes from and how it is grown.
Currently, City Market Co-Op is seeking a dedicated Rounder to join their Prepared Foods Department on a full-time basis. Starting at $19.06 per hour, this position is classified as a non-exempt, Grade 5 union role under UE Local 203. The Rounder reports directly to Prepared Foods management and will work across all City Market locations. This role is integral to the production of delicious, fresh meals that align with the co-op’s mission of supporting local and sustainable food systems.
The Rounder’s primary responsibility is assisting in the daily preparation, stocking, and cleaning of food display and production stations, ensuring that all products meet rigorous quality standards in taste, freshness, and appearance. This role also includes careful labeling and rotation of products in all storage and refrigerated areas to maintain food safety and reduce waste. The Rounder works collaboratively with other departments and is involved in gathering ingredients, receiving and stocking new products, and ensuring compliance with City Market’s established procedures around operations, safety, and security.
This position suits individuals who are passionate about local food, enjoy working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, and take pride in contributing to a dynamic, community-oriented establishment. City Market Co-Op offers an inclusive and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and values the unique contributions of each team member. Joining City Market means becoming part of a vibrant community dedicated to nourishing people and the planet. If you are looking for a meaningful career in food production where you can make a positive impact on your community, this opportunity is an excellent fit.
