Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answers customer questions regarding products
- Assists them with selections
- Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- Assists in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set-up and clean-up processes)
- Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Cleans and sanitizes display cases
- Operates and maintains equipment properly
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Complies with department/store operating procedures
- Records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery)
- Assists in technical areas such as baking, frying, and decorating (bakery)
- Culls bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates
- Takes care of service counter customers (deli)
- Uses ordering system applications (deli)
- Uses Fresh Production Planner (deli)
- Performs inventory management processes (deli)
- Ensures catering orders are prepared and ready on time (deli)
- Performs sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- Serves and packages products at customer’s request (prepared foods)
- Educates customers on preparation/reheating instructions (prepared foods)
- Prepackages condiments for prepared food items
- Cuts, slices, dices, and chops food in preparation for chef
