Job Description

Coastline Regional Occupational Program (ROP) is an educational organization committed to preparing students with the skills, knowledge, and experience needed for successful careers in various technical and vocational fields. It operates multiple career technical education programs across Orange County, California, providing hands-on training and real-world experiences that align with current industry standards and workforce demands. Focused on serving youth and adults, Coastline ROP offers accessible and engaging instruction aimed at empowering learners to achieve their professional goals and thrive in competitive industries.

The Culinary Arts Teacher (ACCESS) position at Coastline ROP is a part-time role designed to provide high-quality, hands-on culinary arts instruction within the ACCESS program serving justice-involved youth. Reporting to the Administrator of Educational Programs, the Culinary Arts Instructor will be responsible for delivering standards-based education aligned with Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways and industry expectations. This role involves teaching practical skills in food preparation, safety, sanitation, and kitchen operations, creating a safe and engaging learning environment that supports skill development and industry readiness. The instructor must adapt instruction to meet the diverse academic, social-emotional, and behavioral needs of students, maintaining a trauma-informed classroom atmosphere.

The position requires working Monday through Friday at multiple locations including the Central Youth Reporting Center in Santa Ana, ACCESS San Juan Capistrano/Mission Viejo, ACCESS Fountain Valley, and ACCESS Anaheim North. The starting hourly pay ranges from $36.43 to $63.14 plus 25 percent preparation time, with placement based on teaching and industry experience. This role demands an individual capable of fostering employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and professionalism, while maintaining safety and organization in the kitchen/classroom space according to health regulations. Strong collaboration with site staff and administrators is essential to support student progress and success. Candidates must be prepared to work in secure, structured environments and complete extensive background clearance including fingerprinting, reflecting the sensitive nature of working with justice-involved youth.

This opportunity is ideal for a culinary professional passionate about education, youth development, and community impact, especially those with experience in culinary arts, baking, or pastry arts, and who hold or are eligible for a CTE credential. Coastline ROP offers a dynamic, rewarding work environment with the opportunity to positively influence students' lives and career trajectories.
