The role of Housekeeping Supervisor at Sonesta International Hotels involves a dynamic mix of supervisory, operational, and hands-on responsibilities. Reporting directly to the Housekeeping Manager, the Housekeeping Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the housekeeping and laundry operations to maintain high standards of cleanliness and service excellence. This position is integral in ensuring that guests consistently encounter clean, comfortable rooms that meet the brand's strict guidelines related to timing, cleanliness, and product placement.
Beyond managing and inspecting guest rooms and public areas, the Housekeeping Supervisor actively participates in cleaning duties, making the role both supervisory and operational. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, train, and monitor housekeeping staff performance, fostering a culture of teamwork and service passion within the department. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two years housekeeping experience including supervisory training or experience
- previous experience in the extended stay industry preferred
- ability to speak, read, and write English
- ability to document tasks, order supplies, and read equipment manuals
- mathematical skills
- problem solving and organizational abilities
- experience with Microsoft Office preferred
- physical ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and move frequently
- ability to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals
- ability to carry, lift, or pull items up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent plus two years housekeeping experience including some supervisory training or experience
- previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
- ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
- reading and writing abilities to document tasks completed, order supplies, and read equipment manuals including safety information
- mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances
- problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
- experience with Microsoft Office preferred
Job Duties
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients
- manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates
- partner with the Housekeeping Manager to recruit, develop, manage and monitor performance while making recommendations for disciplinary and other human resources-related actions
- inspect all assigned suites and public areas to ensure furnishings, guest suites, equipment, linens, and public areas are clean and in good repair
- assist with training of employees and ensuring they have the tools and equipment needed
- assist with scheduling and room cleaning assignments to ensure proper coverage
- perform housekeeping duties including cleaning guest suites and hotel public spaces
- partner with the Housekeeping Manager to inventory and maintain par levels for linen and room supplies
- monitor commercial laundry supplies and equipment
- manage procedures of lost and found items
- promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination
- ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
- perform other duties as assigned
