The primary function of this role involves serving meals to patients efficiently and professionally, while adhering strictly to safety protocols such as employing two patient identifiers before entering patient rooms to ensure accuracy and patient safety. The Food Service Worker is responsible for delivering food trays in a friendly manner, responding promptly to patient requests, complaints, or questions with courtesy and knowledge, and ensuring any special dietary requirements or issues are communicated to supervisors or managers for resolution.
In this role, maintaining a clean and safe work environment is paramount, including vigilance regarding food quality, equipment, and property safety. The worker is also accountable for completing various facility documentation such as safety reports and equipment requests, which supports smooth operational flow and compliance with health regulations. Job Duties
- Performs all necessary duties to serve food
- follows scripted communication and uses two patient identifiers when entering a patient’s room
- delivers food to patients in a friendly manner and responds to complaints, requests and questions in a knowledgeable and polite manner
- communicates any special requests, unresolved issues or complaints to food service coordinator, supervisor or manager
- uses two patient identifiers and verifies the diet according to established procedure before passing patient trays
- maintains a clean and safe work environment and reports any unsafe conditions of food, property and equipment
- fills out facilities report, safety report and iService request
- fills food requisitions on the floors
- fills supply list for room service
- troubleshoots complaints in conjunction with leads, supervisors and managers
- rotates food items for freshness and safety with as little food waste as possible
