The Room Service Host role at Rhode Island Hospital is a vital position responsible for enhancing patient satisfaction through attentive and courteous service. Under the general supervision of the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host serves as a liaison between patients, family members, nursing staff, and dietary personnel. The primary responsibilities include distributing menus to new admissions, obtaining meal choices, delivering and collecting patient trays, snacks, and tube feeding products, and ensuring accurate documentation of meal orders using the CBORD computerized Room Service tablet system.

This role demands strong interpersonal communication skills and a commitment to excellent customer service. The Room Service Host plays a key role in monitoring patient meal satisfaction, identifying meal service concerns, and coordinating with dietitians or dietetic technicians when a patient’s nutritional intake is inadequate. Accuracy in entering meal selections, orders, preferences, and special dietary requests into the CBORD system is crucial, as is the ability to assist patients who are unable to verbally select meals. The position also involves maintaining a clean and sanitary work environment by adhering to departmental policies for cleaning, waste disposal, and equipment operation.

Physical demands include mostly standing and walking with occasional repetitive motions, reaching, pulling, and pushing. The ability to lift up to 35 pounds is required. The work schedule involves five nights per week, with rotating weekends and holidays. This role does not require driving and is non-union. The pay range for the Room Service Host at Rhode Island Hospital is between $20.04 and $20.90 per hour.

  • Assisting patients on missed meal reports and performing duties of the Room Service Call Representative as needed
