With a focus on innovation, patient-centered care, and community involvement, Brown University Health continues to build a reputation as a leading hospital within the region. The facility values diversity, equal employment opportunities, and a work environment free from discrimination and harassment, making it an inclusive place for all team members.
The Room Service Host role at Brown University Health is imperative to ensuring patient satisfaction through effective communication and timely service delivery. Reporting to the Patient Services Director and management team, the Room Service Host acts as a liaison between patients, nursing staff, dietitians, and food service departments. This position demands a courteous and proactive individual who is skilled at managing meal orders using CBORD computerized Room Service tablet systems, handling special dietary requests, and maintaining sanitary standards throughout their work area.
The role involves distributing menus to new admissions, obtaining patient meal choices, and entering or updating all related information in the CBORD system with precision. The Room Service Host plays a vital part in monitoring patient satisfaction by identifying and addressing any meal service issues, including assisting patients listed on missed meal reports. Regular communication with nursing staff and dietitians ensures that patients with poor food or supplement intake receive appropriate attention. Furthermore, the Host is responsible for delivering meals, snacks, and tube feeding products directly to patients, ensuring their nutritional needs are met efficiently and courteously.
Working in a hospital environment requires the Room Service Host to uphold strict cleanliness and safety standards. This includes maintaining organized and sanitary workspaces, performing waste disposal duties, checking storage areas for expired products, and identifying any safety hazards swiftly to prevent potential risks. The role demands physical stamina as it includes mostly standing and walking, lifting up to 35 pounds, and the ability to communicate effectively through multiple channels such as in-person, telephone, or fax.
This is a full-time day shift position that involves working five nights a week with rotating weekends and holidays, reflecting the continuous nature of patient care. Although driving is not required, the Room Service Host must excel in teamwork and customer service within a dynamic healthcare setting. Prior experience in food service or customer service, preferably with CBORD system knowledge, is essential to succeed in this job. Brown University Health offers an hourly wage ranging approximately from $20.04 to $20.90, highlighting its commitment to competitive compensation for roles critical to patient care and service excellence.
