Banner Health is a prominent healthcare organization recognized as a certified Great Place To Work. This institution prioritizes its team members and continuously strives to be the best place to work in healthcare. Banner Health operates across various locations, with comprehensive services aimed at providing outstanding patient care and support. As a leader in healthcare, Banner Health emphasizes not only medical treatment but also the critical behind-the-scenes roles that contribute to the smooth and safe functioning of its hospitals, creating an environment conducive to excellent patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Banner Health seeks to fill the role of Room Service Attendant in Phoenix, Arizona. This position belongs to the Facilities, Environmental Services, and Culinary category and involves a full-time day shift from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm, including weekends and holidays. A competitive weekend shift differential of $1 per hour is offered for weekend shifts, alongside an 18% night shift differential where applicable. The Room Service Attendant plays an essential role in ensuring top-tier patient services as part of a cohesive team dedicated to patient care excellence.
The role involves providing patients with menu selections and meal service directly, communicating patient requests to dietetic technicians and dietitians when needed, and assembling meals according to prescribed quantities and dietary requirements. This position demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to adhere strictly to food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing agency requirements. Beyond technical meal service skills, the Room Service Attendant is expected to consistently deliver exceptional customer service by interacting with patients, families, and healthcare staff effectively. This entails managing meal requests, resolving minor problems related to patient trays and menus, and maintaining prompt and courteous communication both in person and over the phone.
Candidates for this role typically have one to two years of relevant experience in nutrition services or food service. Strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills are required, along with the ability to follow safety guidelines, operate business computer software, and use point of sale systems. The position requires obtaining a food handler’s card within 30 days of hire (except for team members in Tucson and Colorado). Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, knowledge of nutrition services including modified diets, portion control, and healthcare nutrition practices. Bilingual skills and additional related education or experience are considered advantageous.
This role is not only about meal delivery but also about ensuring patient satisfaction and comfort through dietary adherence and personalized service. Working in a healthcare setting, the Room Service Attendant contributes directly to the healing environment by ensuring that patients receive the right meals promptly and courteously, supporting overall treatment plans and recovery processes. Banner Health champions a drug-free workplace and supports equal employment opportunities for disabled individuals and veterans, upholding a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion across its workforce.
