As a Room Service Associate at Banner Desert Medical Center, you will join a dedicated and cohesive team focused on delivering premier patient services. This role involves visiting patients to provide menus, taking and recording their meal requests, and working closely with Dietetic Technicians and Dietitians to ensure all dietary needs and preferences are accurately met. The position requires active participation in meal assembly and preparation to guarantee that each patient receives their meals in the proper quantities. You will be responsible for delivering and serving meals, managing special requests, snacks, and nourishment independently while maintaining high standards of food handling and sanitation.

The role offers varied work shifts, including evening and weekend hours, with part-time and full-time positions available, and includes incentives such as a flat rate weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential where applicable. Job Requirements

Reading, writing and mathematical skills
One to two years of related experience in nutrition services or food handling
Ability to obtain food handlers' card within 30 days of hire for Banner Staffing Services team members
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Friendly customer service attitude
Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines for working with cleaning chemicals
Ability to learn and work with business computer software and point of sale systems
Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
Must demonstrate effective customer service skills

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or GED or equivalent working knowledge
Skills and knowledge of nutrition services as typically gained through one to two years of related experience
Understanding of common modified diets and portion measures
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Friendly customer service attitude
Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines
Ability to learn and work with business computer software and point of sale systems
Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests
Demonstrated effective customer service skills
Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments
Additional related education and or experience preferred

Job Duties

Visit patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon dietary orders
Enter or record all daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units
Demonstrate appropriate judgment with modified diets, food and menu knowledge when relating to patients
Request Diet Tech or Dietitian assistance when needed
Edit patient menus as required
Provide patient meal service which may include setting up tray work stations, preparing or portioning assigned foods according to correct quantities, and or assembling patient trays
Deliver and serve meals while making independent judgments about special requests, snacks and nourishments
Provide excellent customer service on the phone or in person and resolve customer complaints effectively and efficiently
Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing agency requirements
Interact with patients and families, other food service staff, nursing staff, dietetic technicians and dietitians
Follow a work routine, work quickly and correctly while providing good customer service and maintaining dietary, food quality and sanitation standards
Resolve minor problems with patient menus and trays
