Job Description

North Colorado Medical Center, part of Banner Health, has established itself as a premier healthcare facility serving Weld County, northern Colorado, and the surrounding multi-state regions for over a century. With its state-of-the-art technology and a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services, this 378-bed Level II trauma center is at the forefront of medical care. The hospital provides specialized treatment across various disciplines, including medical, pediatric, obstetric, orthopedic, surgical, heart, cancer, and critical care services. Banner Health is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, innovative, and patient-centered healthcare, supported by a team of over 3,000 dedicated professionals who work tirelessly to ensure high-quality outcomes for every patient. The hospital's reputation extends beyond Colorado, serving communities in southern Wyoming, western Nebraska, western Kansas, and northeastern Colorado. One of its key highlights is the Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center, recognized as a leading facility for cancer diagnosis and treatment in Northern Colorado.

The role of a Room Service Attendant at Banner Health’s North Colorado Medical Center is vital to the hospital’s culinary and nutrition services team. This position focuses on enhancing patient experience by providing nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary requirements. Room Service Attendants are responsible for preparing room service trays, delivering meals to patients, cleaning patient trays, and assisting with kitchen duties. This role is physically active, requiring attendants to be on their feet 90% of the time and take approximately 15,000 to 20,000 steps daily during an evening shift from 3 pm to 8 pm. Working part-time for 24 hours a week, including weekend rotations with a $1.50 hourly weekend shift differential, employees contribute directly to patient satisfaction and support clinical dietary recommendations.

In this position, team members engage directly with patients to take meal orders, making sure selections align with prescribed dietary needs, which may involve communicating with dietetic technicians and dietitians. Attendants maintain food safety and sanitation consistent with licensing agencies’ standards and manage patient meal assembly to ensure accuracy. The role demands attentiveness to dietary modifications, customer service excellence both in person and over the phone, and the ability to respond effectively to patient requests and concerns. Being part of a healthcare environment also requires following strict safety protocols, especially when handling cleaning chemicals and operating point-of-sale systems. Banner Health encourages growth and education, valuing interpersonal skills, nutrition knowledge, and the ability to work expeditiously within a routine to uphold high standards of food and service quality.

As part of the broader culinary and nutrition department, Room Service Attendants play a crucial supporting role in promoting patient wellness and satisfaction. The opportunity to serve in a respected medical center that combines advanced medical technology with a caring, community-oriented approach makes this role both rewarding and impactful. Banner Health values diversity, inclusiveness, and equal employment opportunity and fosters a drug-free work environment to maintain a safe and supportive workplace. The hourly wage ranges between $16.32 and $24.48, commensurate with experience and qualifications, with pay equity and transparency as foundational commitments. Candidates interested in making a positive difference in healthcare through culinary services are encouraged to apply, knowing they will be part of a team dedicated to improving patient health through excellent nutrition and service.
