Job Description
Marriott International is a globally recognized leader in the hospitality industry, committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences and fostering a supportive, inclusive work environment. As one of the world’s largest and most respected hotel companies, Marriott offers a variety of brands tailored to different traveler needs and preferences. Among these, Westin Hotels stand out for their dedication to wellness and guest well-being, creating environments where guests can rejuvenate and maintain their balance while away from home. The company is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and celebrates a diverse workforce, emphasizing respect and inclusion for associates of all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives.
The Housekeeping Supervisor role at Marriott International, specifically within the Westin brand, is a vital position responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and guest satisfaction. This role requires managing and overseeing the daily operations of the housekeeping team, ensuring that guest rooms and public areas are clean, well-maintained, and in line with brand standards. The supervisor is not only in charge of inspecting guest rooms after cleaning but also plays an integral part in entering room statuses into the system, completing checklists, and reporting on the cleanliness and condition of all assigned areas. Additionally, the Housekeeping Supervisor supports management in several human resources functions including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating employees. Serving as a role model and leader, the supervisor ensures that all team members adhere to company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor throughout.
Beyond operational duties, this position also emphasizes excellent guest service. The Housekeeping Supervisor is expected to respond promptly and effectively to guest and departmental requests, greet and acknowledge guests with warmth and professionalism, anticipate guest needs, and assist guests with disabilities, contributing to an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere. Employees in this role are expected to consistently uphold and enforce confidentiality standards to protect proprietary information and company assets. This supervisor also takes an active role in identifying and implementing opportunities for improving efficiency, productivity, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness within the department. This includes reporting maintenance issues, safety hazards, and any workplace incidents while ensuring compliance with safety training and proper storage of flammable materials.
Physically, the role demands stamina and dexterity such as lifting and carrying loads, pushing carts, bending, twisting, and standing or walking for extended periods. Competency with computers and point-of-sale systems is also required to document cleaning statuses, access information, and communicate effectively. The ideal candidate should possess at least a high school diploma or GED equivalent, with a preference for those who bring at least one year of related housekeeping or supervisory experience, though supervisory experience is not required. The role offers a dynamic and supportive work environment where individuals passionate about wellness, teamwork, and guest satisfaction can thrive and grow within a renowned international hospitality brand.
