The role available is critical to the day-to-day operation of the kitchen and requires a meticulous individual with considerable experience and professionalism. The person in this position will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen activities, including food preparation, menu planning, inventory management, food quality control, staff training, and enforcement of health and safety standards. This position demands a leader who is not just skilled in culinary techniques but also demonstrates innovative thinking to challenge staff with new culinary ideas and stay ahead of industry trends. The ideal candidate must have a solid understanding of kitchen equipment and utensils, proper product rotation procedures, waste control, and standardized recipe adherence with the ability to improvise when necessary.

With at least four years of cooking experience and two years in an assistant chef role, the successful candidate will be adept at managing a busy kitchen environment that may be noisy and crowded at times, requiring stamina, manual dexterity, keen senses, and physical mobility. The job also involves maintaining a professional demeanor, excellent interpersonal communication skills in English, and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with both team members and guests. Familiarity with basic computer software and office tasks is preferred. This role requires schedule flexibility, including working nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Serve-Safe certification
  • Four years plus cooking experience with two years assistant chef experience
  • Ability to maintain working relationships with coworkers
  • Ability to maintain a consistent work speed under normal conditions
  • Knowledge of use cleaning and breakdown of equipment
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes as well as improvise
  • Knowledge of various preparation methods
  • Ability to read write and verbally communicate effectively in English
  • Mobility to include bending reaching prolonged standing and walking accessing and lifting items from floor level to six feet high
  • Good working knowledge of computer software to include MS Word Excel

Job Duties

  • Monitor train and develop employee's skills
  • Monitor production and quality levels of all food products both incoming and outgoing
  • Maintain proper sanitation environment to include proper use cleaning and handling of all equipment and product
  • Maintain open and daily communication with staff and management
  • Assist the Executive Chef and other Restaurant Chefs as needed
  • Develop and implement ongoing education programs for sanitation and safety
  • Plan meals based on implemented menus
