The Room Attendant role at Sonesta International Hotels is an essential position within the housekeeping department, contributing significantly to the overall guest experience. The Room Attendant works closely with the Housekeeping Management Team to ensure that guest rooms and public spaces are meticulously cleaned and maintained according to the brand's standards. This role may also involve responsibilities in the commercial laundry facility. The Room Attendant upholds the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards, a guiding principle designed to ensure every guest interaction is handled with care and excellence.
In this position, the Room Attendant carries out various housekeeping duties such as making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, and cleaning kitchen appliances like refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers when applicable. The role requires the ability to respond effectively to guest complaints and special requests, ensuring corrective actions are taken promptly to maintain guest satisfaction. Communication with supervisors is critical, especially for reporting room statuses and any maintenance issues.
The Room Attendant might also be assigned to work in the laundry area, where responsibilities include monitoring laundry supplies, operating washers and dryers properly, inspecting linens for damages, folding, and storing clean linens. To minimize waste and promote efficiency within all housekeeping areas is an ongoing priority. Additionally, the Room Attendant supports deep cleaning projects, promotes teamwork, and adheres strictly to health and safety laws.

Job Requirements
- Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
- Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred
- Basic reading, writing and mathematical abilities are preferred
- Frequently standing, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
- Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
- Regular use of commercial cleaning chemicals
- Willingness to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Job Qualifications
- Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
- Previous extended stay industry background preferred
- Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English preferred
- Basic reading, writing, and mathematical abilities preferred
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow safety procedures
- Ability to operate cleaning and laundry equipment
Job Duties
- Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all guest interactions according to G.U.E.S.T. standards
- Respond to guest complaints and special requests ensuring corrective action for complete satisfaction
- Clean and service assigned rooms or areas including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash, and cleaning kitchen appliances
- Notify supervisor upon completion of service so rooms may be sold or occupied
- Monitor laundry supplies and equipment, operate washers and dryers, inspect, fold, and store linens when assigned to laundry
- Minimize waste of supplies and amenities within housekeeping areas
- Assist with deep cleaning projects regularly
- Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
- Handle lost and found items according to procedures
- Promote teamwork and quality service via communication with other shifts and management
- Ensure compliance with health and safety laws
- Perform other assigned duties
