The Room Attendant (RA) role at Sonesta International Hotels is an essential position within the Housekeeping Department, responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction through meticulous cleanliness and upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and laundry facilities. Working under the guidance of the Housekeeping Management Team, a Room Attendant maintains high standards by adhering to brand-specific cleaning procedures and time constraints. This role requires attention to detail when servicing rooms, including bed-making, dusting, vacuuming, bathroom sanitation, trash removal, and potentially handling kitchen areas within the rooms.

Beyond cleaning duties, Room Attendants at Sonesta play an important role in guest relations by promptly addressing guest complaints and special requests, always aiming to deliver exceptional Sonesta service aligned with the G.U.E.S.T. standards. The role also encompasses operational responsibilities such as monitoring laundry supplies and equipment, operating washers and dryers, folding linens, and reporting damaged or stained items. Maintaining safety standards is critical, as is effective teamwork and communication with colleagues and supervisors to promote quality service and a safe environment.

This position may require physical stamina including the ability to stand for long periods, bend, climb, kneel, and lift items weighing up to 75 pounds. Flexibility to work various shifts including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays is a must. Sonesta offers a competitive hourly pay range of $17.00 to $19.00, with actual pay contingent on job knowledge, skills, and experience. This role is vital to ensuring guests enjoy a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment during their stay, contributing directly to the overall success and reputation of Sonesta International Hotels.

Job Requirements

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • Previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred
  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical abilities are preferred
  • Frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • Carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Will be required to regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Will be required to work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • Respond to guest complaints, special requests and ensure corrective action is taken to achieve complete guest satisfaction
  • Clean and service assigned rooms or areas according to established standards and procedures including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash
  • Notify supervisor when service is completed so rooms may be sold or occupied
  • When assigned to laundry, monitor laundry supplies and equipment to ensure they are sufficient and in working order
  • Operate washers and dryers according to hotel standards and manufacturers' guidelines
  • Fold and store clean linens, report damages to supervisor
  • Minimize waste of supplies and amenities within all areas of housekeeping
  • Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • Handle all lost and found items according to established procedures
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other shifts and departmental management
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
