The Role of Room Attendant at Sonesta is crucial in maintaining the high standards expected by guests at their various properties. Reporting to the Housekeeping Management Team, the Room Attendant is responsible for cleaning and servicing guest rooms in adherence to Sonesta's established quality standards. This position primarily focuses on ensuring rooms and assigned areas are sanitized, comfortable, and well-stocked, which directly impacts overall guest satisfaction. Key responsibilities include making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning bathrooms, removing trash, and occasionally cleaning kitchen areas and appliances such as refrigerators, microwaves, and coffee makers.

Room Attendants also play an important role in addressing guest complaints and special requests promptly and professionally, ensuring a positive guest experience that aligns with the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards. They are tasked with reporting any rooms that cannot be serviced and notifying supervisors of any needed repairs or unsafe conditions. The role may require assisting with deep cleaning projects and handling lost and found items according to established hotel procedures. The Room Attendant must be comfortable working with commercial cleaning chemicals and able to handle physical demands such as lifting items up to 75 pounds and standing for prolonged periods.

This position offers a pay rate of $16 per hour and requires availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet hotel operational needs. Job Requirements

  • Some previous housekeeping experience preferred
  • previous background from the extended stay industry preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English is preferred, other languages beneficial
  • basic reading, writing and mathematical abilities are preferred
  • frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • regularly use commercial cleaning chemicals
  • work mornings, evening, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards
  • respond to guest complaints and special requests and ensure corrective action is taken
  • clean and service assigned rooms or areas including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, removing trash
  • report any room unable to be serviced to supervisor
  • minimize waste of supplies and amenities within housekeeping
  • assist with deep cleaning projects
  • report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • handle lost and found items according to procedures
  • promote teamwork and quality service through communication with other shifts and management
  • ensure compliance with health and safety laws
  • perform other duties as assigned
