The Food Production Cook at H-E-B plays a critical role in ensuring the kitchen operates smoothly while maintaining superior fast, fresh, and friendly customer service. This is a hands-on position requiring active participation in both food preparation and maintaining workplace sanitation. The Food Production Cook will also demonstrate safe handling and use of kitchen equipment and ingredients, ensuring the maintenance of proper temperature integrity and cleanliness within the food preparation areas. In addition to cooking-related duties, this role emphasizes teamwork and the execution of internal customer service by assisting other team members and guests as needed. Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • experience in food preparation and equipment (preferred)
  • related experience (preferred)
  • high school diploma or GED (or equivalent)
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • ability to work extended hours and/or rotating schedules
  • ability to safely maneuver around moving mechanical parts
  • ability to constantly stand, reach at waist, grasp
  • frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic materials
  • occasional walking, reaching at various levels, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, kneeling, climbing stairs, pivoting, twisting, pushing/pulling with arms, pinching, performing fine motor movements, shoulder circumduction
  • occasional exposure to wet, cold, heat, ambient temperatures, and loud noise
  • ability to lift 55 lbs and manage in excess of 80 lbs with a team lift

Job Duties

  • Cuts, slices, dices, chops, food for recipe preparation
  • preps in accordance with recipe specifications and SOPs
  • prepackages condiments (sauces, dressings) for prepared food items
  • completes tasks at assigned work station
  • assists in multiple cooking venues
  • assists in technical areas, and with catering orders, as needed
  • performs other duties as assigned
