In addition to production duties, the Artisan Bread Expert actively contributes to customer service by assisting customers, using suggestive selling techniques, and promoting freshly baked products via regular announcements. The role involves ensuring food safety and sanitation compliance, adhering strictly to H-E-B's standards for cleanliness and product dating policies. The Artisan Bread Expert also supports the back storage organization and inventory control, helping to maintain a well-stocked and orderly production environment. Candidates for this position typically have at least six months of experience in scratch mixing, shaping, and baking, with a preferred background of three or more years in bakery specialization. The role requires strong knowledge of baking equipment operation and maintenance, familiarity with H-E-B systems such as PC, symbol, scales, and label machines, and excellent communication and customer service skills. Completion of Bake Works and Fry Works training and food sanitation and safety certifications are mandatory. Job Duties
- Assists customers with bakery products and purchases
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and to build department sales
- Makes regular announcements to inform customers of freshly-baked products
- Expertly creates a variety of top quality breads from scratch, including artisan pan breads, natural fermented breads, and hearth breads
- Produces a variety of pan dulce pastries, according to visual training aids
- Executes production efficiently using production planning tools
- recommends adjustments based on actual movement performance
- Properly tops and finishes all baked goods to create a fresh and appetizing presentation
- Maintains product integrity through proper storing, handling, proofing, planning, and breaking out of all baked goods
- Ensures quality control of all products before sending to sales floor
- Ensures cake product reaches the showcase and tables at the prescribed times
- Trains future Artisan Bread Experts, Bakers, and Fryers
- Performs Rep and Specialist duties as required
- Organizes back storage room, freezer, cooler, and production area
- Assists with inventory control, including loading, unloading, moving, and storing products
- Maintains sanitation in work area
- Complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Ensures all products comply with H-E-B code dating policy
- Ensures productivity standards are met without compromising product quality
- Ensures potentially hazardous foods are maintained under appropriate temperatures
