The available role is for a dedicated Tractor-Trailer Driver within FedEx Freight. This position centers on driving tractor-trailer combinations—ranging from standard doubles to triples—between designated Service Centers and turn-point locations. The driver is responsible for safely operating heavy vehicles while adhering to all Department of Transportation regulations and company policies. With a starting pay rate of $31.26 per hour, this full-time position involves substantial driving over long distances, often requiring travel during day and night hours, and in various weather conditions. Drivers must perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections of equipment to ensure operational safety and compliance. Job Requirements
- Class A commercial driver’s license with required endorsements
- Minimum 1 year recent driving experience or FedEx Freight Driver Development Course completion
- Acceptable motor vehicle record
- Compliance with Department of Transportation regulations
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as hooking/unhooking trailers
- Ability to sit and move as required throughout shifts
- Effective communication skills
- Availability to work varied hours and travel long distances
- Willingness to obtain hazardous materials endorsement within 120 days of employment

Job Qualifications
- Must possess a class A commercial driver’s license with double/triple hazardous materials and tank endorsements
- Must possess 1 year experience within most recent 3 years or successful completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
- Must have acceptable motor vehicle record based on hiring standards
- Must meet all Department of Transportation regulatory requirements under section 391 of the Federal Motor Carrier regulations
- Long combination vehicle drivers in specified states must meet the Long Combination Vehicles qualification and certification minimum standards
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to hook-up and break-down sets of trailers that require an average lift force of about 100 pounds
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time bend twist squat climb in and out of truck
- Ability to follow instructions and complete required training
- Ability to work independently and/or as a team member
- Demonstrates initiative and motivation
Job Duties
- Operate tractor-trailer combination including doubles and triples where applicable
- Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
- Hook and unhook trailers and converter dollies to/from a tractor and/or trailer
- Verify and complete required documentation and reports
- Maintain accurate daily logs
- Comply with hazardous material regulations and procedures
- Follow dispatch instructions and communicate with dispatch as required
