Job Description

FedEx Freight, Inc., a renowned leader in the transportation and logistics industry, is dedicated to providing reliable and efficient freight shipping services across the nation. As part of the FedEx family, FedEx Freight offers specialized less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services and operates a network of service centers and turn-point locations to ensure the timely transport of goods. With a longstanding reputation for excellence, the company emphasizes safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction, making it a preferred employer in the trucking and logistics sector. FedEx Freight is committed to equal employment opportunities, providing inclusive and accessible workplaces for all employees, including those with disabilities and veterans. They promote transparent communication and uphold all regulatory standards to ensure a fair and supportive working environment.

The available position involves driving tractor-trailer combinations to pick up and deliver trailers between various FedEx Freight service centers or turn-point locations. The role includes linehaul duties paid at a starting rate of $0.7162 per mile and non-linehaul duties compensated at $31.26 per hour. This position requires the operation of advanced tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples where applicable, and demands an experienced, safety-conscious professional committed to maintaining equipment and adhering to all safety regulations. The driver will perform daily pre-trip inspections, hook and unhook trailers, complete required documentation, maintain accurate logs, and comply fully with hazardous materials regulations when necessary. Additional responsibilities include following dispatch instructions, communicating effectively with dispatch teams, loading and unloading freight, and potentially assisting with city driving or dock duties as operational needs arise.

This role requires compliance with Department of Transportation regulatory standards, including those related to hazardous material handling and the operation of long combination vehicles (LCVs), such as triple trailers and rocky mountain doubles in designated states. The candidate must be physically capable of performing the required tasks, including lifting approximately 100 pounds, as well as having the ability to sit for extended periods and perform complex vehicle maneuvers. Working conditions encompass driving long distances under various weather scenarios, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and potentially hazardous materials. The position may also demand varied hours, overnight stays, and a high degree of adaptability to meet dynamic operational schedules.

Overall, this role offers dedicated drivers the opportunity to work with a leader in freight transportation, benefitting from a structured developmental course, a competitive pay rate, and a professional environment that values safety, compliance, and employee growth. FedEx Freight seeks motivated individuals with strong work ethics and a commitment to excellence in freight delivery. If you have a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with the necessary endorsements, experience in operating multiple trailer combinations, and the physical capabilities to perform the demanding duties, this position is an excellent match for your career aspirations within the logistics industry.
