Job Description
FedEx Freight, Inc. is a leading provider of less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services across North America. As a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation, FedEx Freight specializes in the transportation and delivery of goods, offering reliable and efficient logistics solutions to businesses large and small. The company is committed to excellence in service, safety, and sustainability, leveraging its extensive network and technology to meet customers' varied shipping needs. FedEx Freight operates a modern fleet and employs thousands of professional drivers and logistics personnel, making it a top choice for those seeking career opportunities in the freight and transportation industry.
The role of a Tractor-Trailer Driver at FedEx Freight is a vital position responsible for the pick-up and delivery of trailers between Service Centers and turn-point locations using tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and potentially triples. This position combines linehaul duties compensated at $0.7162 per mile with non-linehaul work paid at $31.26 per hour. The driver will conduct daily pre-trip and safety inspections, ensure the secure hooking and unhooking of trailers and converter dollies, and maintain detailed and accurate logs. Additional responsibilities include verifying and completing required documentation, complying with hazardous materials regulations, communicating effectively with dispatch, and assisting with loading and unloading freight when needed. The role may also require flexibility to perform city driving or dock employee duties based on operational needs.
This position demands a high level of skill, safety awareness, and professionalism to ensure the timely, safe, and compliant transportation of goods. Drivers must be able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and motivation while following strict regulatory requirements. Given the nature of the work, drivers will face various working conditions such as long-distance driving day and night, exposure to noise, vibration, dust, diesel fumes, and hazardous materials. Overnight stays and variable hours according to operational demand are part of the job. Having the proper endorsements including a Class A Commercial Driver's License with double/triple, hazardous materials, and tank endorsements is mandatory, with the Hazardous Materials endorsement required to be obtained within 120 days of hiring. FedEx Freight emphasizes equal employment opportunities and supports applicants with disabilities throughout the hiring process. This role presents an exciting pathway for professional advancement in a respected and well-established logistics company.
