Job Description

FedEx Freight, Inc. is a prominent leader in the freight transportation industry, specializing in providing reliable and efficient less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping services across North America. As a subsidiary of the globally recognized FedEx Corporation, FedEx Freight upholds a commitment to excellence, safety, and customer satisfaction through a broad network of service centers and state-of-the-art logistics infrastructure. With its extensive reach and innovative technology, the company ensures timely delivery and seamless freight movement, earning a reputation as one of the most trusted freight carriers in the market.

This role is based in an in-person work setting and offers a starting pay rate of $31.26 per hour, reflecting the company’s dedication to attracting skilled professionals in the freight transportation sector. The position involves operating tractor-trailer combinations, including doubles and triples, to pick up and deliver trailers between various Service Centers or turn-point locations. Drivers play an essential role in maintaining the flow of goods by adhering to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with dispatch teams. The candidate will perform pre-trip inspections, manage documentation, and engage in activities such as hooking/unhooking trailers or handling hazardous materials when applicable.

The role demands a high level of responsibility given the nature of long-haul driving, including compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and FedEx Freight’s operational procedures. In addition to operating vehicles, the position may occasionally require loading/unloading freight, performing city driver or dock duties where necessary, and handling long combination vehicles (LCV) across specified states. Candidates must also demonstrate physical endurance for tasks requiring repetitive manual effort and the ability to manage vehicle chaining in adverse weather conditions. Comprehensive training and adherence to safety standards are a priority for this position to ensure not only the driver’s safety but the secure transportation of freight.

FedEx Freight supports diversity and equal employment opportunities, including for individuals with disabilities and veterans. The company fosters a collaborative environment where initiative, motivation, and professionalism are valued. The role is ideal for individuals with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet operational requirements. Overall, this position offers a stable career path within a leading transportation company, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and employee development.
