This listing is for Registered Nurse (RN) positions across various adult acute care medicine units with a focus on telemetry, renal and palliative specialty medicine, and acute care for older adults. The available units include SLA 3, SLA 4, SLA 5, V5N, V5W, V4W, Cel 3, and Cel 4. This role will require the RN to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and supervise patient care on the nursing unit according to established unit policies and procedures. The Registered Nurse will provide supervision to non-RN personnel and may assume charge nurse responsibilities, which includes delegation and oversight of unit activities during assigned shifts.
Candidates for the RN role will serve under the supervision of the Nurse Manager or Clinical Coordinator and must be proficient in delivering care for neuro patients, including skills in neuro assessments, airway management, tracheostomy care, and ventilator responsibilities. Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- valid state of Connecticut registered nurse license
- BLS certification
- proficient in use of computer software including electronic patient records
- ability to use internet for literature searches regarding care for patients

Job Duties
- Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis throughout the continuum of care
- Develop, communicate and document a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions to achieve desired outcomes, involving the patient, family and healthcare team
- Implement and coordinate this plan of care in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Evaluate the effectiveness of the plan of care, patient's response to care, and readiness for discharge
- revise the plan of care as needed and make referrals where indicated
- Plan for education after assessing the individual learning needs and readiness of the patient and family
- provide educational opportunities and document outcomes
- Function as a preceptor to new staff
- Function as a charge nurse
- Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and staff and self development as outlined in performance review
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed to ensure smooth operation of the department/unit
- Demonstrate competency in the care of the neuro patient
- Demonstrate skill and knowledge in neuro assessment
- Demonstrate skill and knowledge in the airway management of the neuro patient
- Demonstrate skill and understanding in caring for a trached patient
- Demonstrate skill and understanding in assisting the physician and caring for the patient during special neuro procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the TIA teaching program
- Perform pharyngeal, endotracheal, tracheostomy suctioning according to established policy and procedure
- Demonstrate skill and understanding in the use of equipment and care of patient in a halo brace
- Demonstrate skill and understanding of nursing responsibilities and interventions for the patient on a ventilator
