Located in Orlando, Florida, Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours healthcare system, featuring a 100-bed pediatric hospital designed specifically with families in mind. As the area’s only children’s hospital with a 24-hour Emergency Department exclusively for pediatric patients, the facility offers comprehensive outpatient pediatric clinics across various specialties that were previously unavailable in the Central Florida region. The Registered Nurse position available within the Staffing Resource Float Pool at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Orlando is a full-time opportunity with shifts available from 7 AM to 7 PM and 7 PM to 7 AM, totaling 36 hours per week. This role is essential to providing high-quality nursing care and requires significant clinical expertise, critical thinking, and a compassionate approach. The Registered Nurse is responsible for performing a wide range of nursing activities that demand specialized professional knowledge, sound clinical judgment, and nursing skills grounded in biological, psychological, social, and physical sciences. These activities include patient assessment, nursing diagnosis, care planning, implementation, and evaluation, as well as health education, counseling, and wellness promotion. Nurses in this role will administer medications and treatments prescribed by licensed practitioners and supervise and teach other healthcare personnel as needed. The position emphasizes the application of clinical judgment through independent decision-making processes supported by policies, procedures, and evidence-based guidelines. Nurses are expected to interpret complex patient data, respond effectively to dynamic clinical situations, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary care teams. The role also champions research and clinical inquiry as nurses participate in improving patient care through evidence-based practices and continual learning. Moreover, the role involves creating a therapeutic and respectful environment that promotes comfort, healing, and patient safety while honoring diversity and cultural differences. Nurses act as advocates and moral agents for patients and families, upholding ethical standards and addressing ethical and clinical concerns as they arise. Effective communication, teamwork, and participation in hospital governance and quality improvement initiatives are important elements of this role. The position also requires proficiency in systems thinking to ensure that nursing services are delivered safely, effectively, and cost-efficiently. Additionally, the nurse will facilitate educational opportunities for patients, families, and colleagues, playing a key role in mentoring and professional growth. To support these duties, candidates must hold an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree, maintain an active nursing license in Florida or a multi-state license, and preferably hold national certification in their specialty area. They need at least one year of critical care nursing experience, with pediatric critical care experience preferred. Required certifications before starting include valid Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
