Job Description

Desert Regional Medical Center is a prominent 385-bed acute-care hospital recognized as a stroke receiving center and Level I Trauma Center. This facility offers an innovative, patient-centered, and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department designed to cater to a wide range of patient needs. The role of Clinical Manager at Desert Regional Medical Center is a critical leadership position within the Emergency Department responsible for overseeing day-to-day shift operations. This full-time position operates on day shifts and focuses on managing human resources in the unit effectively and cost-efficiently. The Clinical Manager acts as a key liaison to promptly investigate and resolve complaints from patients, visitors, staff, and physicians while providing clear and professional communication with hospital management and administration. This role demands leadership in crisis and emergency situations, ensuring employees understand administrative decisions while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and patient confidentiality standards.

The Clinical Manager provides leadership to the telemetry staff, guiding care for telemetry and progressive care patients while aligning with interventional cardiology protocols and medication management. Duties include evaluating staffing requirements using patient classification systems, optimizing human resource utilization, overseeing employee training and continuing education, managing staff evaluations, and conducting interviews and hiring processes. The Clinical Manager also plays a pivotal role in supporting hospital-wide programs such as risk management, safety, and infection control.

In addition to managing operations, this role involves assisting the Director in developing departmental goals, monitoring budget and supply costs, and facilitating interdepartmental collaboration to enhance patient care quality. The Clinical Manager is tasked with maintaining department policies, contributing to strategic planning, and incorporating performance improvement philosophy into daily operations. Regular data collection and quality trending to identify and implement improvement initiatives are also essential components of this position.

Applicants should have a minimum of three years of clinical experience, demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills, and maintain current California RN licensure and American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications. Preferred qualifications include previous management experience and the ability to pass specific clinical tests such as EKG and NIHSS within the first 30 days of hire. This position offers a sign-on bonus of $25,000 for qualified applicants and an hourly wage ranging approximately from $51.18 to $81.91, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Duties

  • Provides leadership of the telemetry staff related to care of the telemetry and progressive care patient and associated interventional cardiology protocols and medication
  • obtains information and interprets information in terms of the patient's needs
