The available position is for a Clinical Manager in the Ortho Spine Department. This full-time, night-shift role is central to the day-to-day operational management of the unit, focusing on providing leadership and administration to ensure excellent patient care and efficient departmental functioning. The Clinical Manager oversees human resources at the unit level with an emphasis on cost-effective management. They play a crucial role in resolving patient, visitor, staff, and physician complaints promptly and effectively, with accurate communication to upper management and administration.
In this leadership role, the Clinical Manager is responsible for managing a multidisciplinary team, facilitating professional development, and optimizing staffing according to workload and patient acuity. They ensure staff meets performance standards and competencies, conduct timely evaluations, and maintain detailed employee records. The manager also coordinates and supports education and mandatory training programs, champions patient safety initiatives, and upholds infection control and risk management standards.
Additionally, the Clinical Manager is involved in strategic planning and quality improvement efforts. They work closely with the Director and hospital leadership to develop and implement department goals, improve operational efficiency, and manage supplies and labor costs to meet budgetary targets. The role demands strong problem-solving skills, excellent communication, and the ability to foster team cohesion and interdepartmental collaboration.
This position requires a professional who demonstrates competence in clinical skills and leadership, with a current California RN license and certifications in BLS and ACLS. A minimum of three years' clinical experience is a prerequisite, with preferred qualifications including a Bachelor's degree and management experience. The hourly wage ranges from $51.18 to $81.91, based on qualifications and experience.

Job Duties
- Provide leadership of the staff related to care of medical-surgical patients and orthopedic surgery protocols and medication
- Obtain and interpret patient information to meet patient needs
- Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development
- Understand treatment needed for various patient ages
- Participate in human resource management including evaluation, counseling, and hiring
- Assist and edit payroll reports
- Ensure job performance standards and competencies are current
- Complete timely performance evaluations
- Facilitate submission of Human Resource documentation
- Counsel and discipline staff appropriately
- Interview and hire staff
- Coordinate attendance for orientation and continuing education
- Attend nursing leadership meetings
- Participate and complete special projects
- Ensure department-specific orientation for new employees
- Maintain employee records on certification, licensure, education, and competencies
- Communicate organization and healthcare issues with staff
- Optimize staffing using acuity data
- Support staff development and cross-training
- Support hospital programs such as risk management and infection control
- Manage staff scheduling
- Facilitate unit teamwork and workflow
- Monitor labor hour compliance with benchmarks
- Promote interdepartmental interactions
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving
- Assist in maintaining standards of care and policies
- Review and revise policies regularly
- Assist in department goal setting and budget monitoring
- Identify cost savings and communicate suggestions
- Maintain expertise in specialty and regulatory knowledge
- Support clinical, organizational, and performance improvement plans
- Collect and analyze quality data
