Job Description

Communication Technology Services (CTS) is one of the largest integrators and managed service providers in the United States, specializing in the design, installation, and support of Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Small Cell, and 4G/5G Private Wireless Networks. The company is renowned for its comprehensive wireless communication solutions, serving large enterprises, wireless carriers, and public venues with sophisticated in-building wireless systems. Established as a leader in the telecommunications industry, CTS enables seamless connectivity through innovative wireless infrastructure projects and maintains a strong reputation for quality, reliability, and client satisfaction.

The role of RF Design Engineer at CTS is a pivotal position focused on supporting the Southern California and Southwest regions, including Arizona, New Mexico, and Nevada. This full-time role offers a competitive salary range of $90,000 to $130,000 annually, commensurate with experience, and comes with a robust benefits package including medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays, life insurance, and 401K plans.

As an RF Design Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, validating, and maintaining RF system designs that conform to wireless carrier technical standards, performance key performance indicators (KPIs), and regulatory requirements. Your primary focus will be on ensuring RF designs meet coverage, capacity, and performance benchmarks while being practical for real-world implementation. You will create detailed, technically compliant designs for in-building wireless systems, including DAS and operator-grade small cell networks, facilitating multi-carrier deployments and advancing the company’s sales and project delivery goals.

The position demands a deep understanding of RF fundamentals, encompassing RF propagation, signal quality, interference management, and network performance metrics. Utilizing industry-standard software tools such as iBwave, Atoll, and Planet, you will conduct RF modeling, propagation analysis, and develop predictive coverage maps and heatmaps that guide the placement and configuration of antennas and other system components. Your design packages will provide detailed antenna layouts, system schematics, and equipment specifications that are essential for internal reviews, client approvals, and carrier submissions.

Your work will ensure strict adherence to wireless carrier standards and deployment guidelines, addressing carrier review feedback and maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge of evolving spectrum allocations including LTE, 5G, and CBRS. Collaboration with sales engineers and business development teams will be key as you assist in defining technical scope, conceptual system architecture, and bill-of-materials development to support cost-effective, technically sound proposals.

Moreover, you will manage RF design data within carrier engineering databases and third-party platforms, ensuring data integrity and consistent configuration throughout the project lifecycle. This includes updating system documentation to reflect design revisions and field modifications while supporting reporting requirements for system readiness and performance metrics.

Overall, this role offers an exciting opportunity for experienced RF engineers to contribute to cutting-edge wireless network deployments, working within a dynamic company at the forefront of telecommunications technology. If you have experience in designing in-building wireless systems across multiple DAS OEM platforms and carrier small cell solutions, and you are eager to impact regional network performance and customer satisfaction positively, CTS is eager to hear from you.
