The primary responsibility of the position is to ensure every guest receives friendly, attentive, and personalized service throughout their visit. Employees will be expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of the menu, including pastries, bread, kitchen items, beverages, and retail goods to assist and inform guests properly. The role also involves preparing drinks and managing food packaging, handling cash transactions according to company policies, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining and retail areas.

Additionally, employees must be adept at communicating effectively, including answering phones politely and managing orders. The role requires punctuality and the ability to complete opening, mid, and closing duties efficiently, including side work and cleaning checklists. Staff are encouraged to manage guest concerns with empathy while escalating issues to management when necessary.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 to 3 months of related restaurant experience or training
  • Ability to be crosstrained in all areas of the dining room and retail space preferred
  • Experience with POS systems especially Toast, a plus
  • Flexibility in schedule highly preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and understand the primary language(s) of the work location

Job Duties

  • Provide friendly and attentive service to all guests throughout the entirety of the visit
  • Anticipate guest needs and note any preferences provided by the guest
  • Prepare all drinks for retail and dining room including batches for the retail counter
  • Properly bag, box, and arrange togo food and pastry
  • Perform sales transactions in accordance with Le Pain Quotidien cash handling policy
  • Maintain and consolidate pastry display throughout the day
  • Maintain full knowledge of pastry, bread, kitchen, beverage, and retail items
  • Handle any guest situations with genuine empathy and elevate to a manager as necessary
  • Complete all opening, mid, and closing procedures
  • complete daily checklist and side work assignments
