Job Description

The Michaels Companies, Inc. is a leading North American retailer specializing in arts and crafts, home décor, framing, and seasonal merchandise. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, as well as a comprehensive online platform available at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, underscoring its dedication to creativity and personalized service. Michaels prides itself on being the ultimate destination for crafters, hobbyists, and creative individuals of all ages who seek quality products and inspiring experiences to fuel their artistic passions. The company’s commitment to fostering creativity extends beyond products to include engaging events, extensive customer services, and a supportive work environment that emphasizes teamwork and customer satisfaction.

As an Event Coordinator, the individual will be responsible for executing multiple events simultaneously, including coordinating logistics, setting up and breaking down event spaces, instructing participants in craft projects, performing face painting, and managing party add-ons. They will serve as the point of contact for clients, ensuring all expectations are met and that events run smoothly and safely. Administrative tasks such as answering emails, making phone calls, and adjusting plans based on client feedback are also integral to the role, highlighting the importance of adaptability and excellent communication skills.

On the customer experience front, the associate will provide friendly and informed assistance to guests, helping them find products, checking out purchases efficiently, and promoting Michaels' Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. Additionally, the position involves operational tasks such as merchandise stocking, truck unloading, maintaining store organization and cleanliness, and supporting company-wide safety and shrink programs. Emphasis is placed on maintaining compliance with Standard Operating Procedures and company standards, projecting a positive image, and fostering a respectful, inclusive environment for customers and team members alike.

Michaels offers robust benefits to support the wellbeing and growth of its team members, including health insurance coverage (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts. The company is dedicated to equal opportunity employment and provides reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities, ensuring a supportive and accessible workplace for all. This position is ideal for someone who is energetic, enthusiastic, creative, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer service and creating joyful experiences through crafting and celebration events.
