Job Requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Experience in rotational assignments within different store departments
- Strong communication skills to provide clear and precise direction
- Conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Ability to analyze financial and statistical data
- Ability to teach suggestive selling
- Commitment to safety at all times
- Mentoring skills
- Completion of required certifications
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years of related retail experience
- One year of management experience
- Experience with rotational assignments in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service and product flow
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide precise direction to team members
- Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions
- Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques
- Ability to lead a safety-conscious organization
- Ability to mentor various team member levels including SDITs, hourly team members and team leaders
- Successful completion of all required certifications
Job Duties
- Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
- Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs
- Promote succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for team members, and making promotion decisions
- Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge
- Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department
- Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
- Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
- Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain area standards
- Ensure team is trained in all job aspects and complete required training
- Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service
- Promote a safe work environment
- Maintain reliable and consistent attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
