Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • One year of management experience
  • Experience in rotational assignments within different store departments
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and precise direction
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical data
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling
  • Commitment to safety at all times
  • Mentoring skills
  • Completion of required certifications

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • One year of management experience
  • Experience with rotational assignments in various store areas such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service and product flow
  • Ability to communicate clearly and provide precise direction to team members
  • Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root cause issues
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling techniques
  • Ability to lead a safety-conscious organization
  • Ability to mentor various team member levels including SDITs, hourly team members and team leaders
  • Successful completion of all required certifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
  • Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for team members, and making promotion decisions
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge
  • Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department
  • Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
  • Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals and maintain area standards
  • Ensure team is trained in all job aspects and complete required training
  • Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service
  • Promote a safe work environment
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
