Job Description

The Springfield Scout Shop is a retail establishment dedicated to providing quality products and services tailored to meet the needs of the local Scouting community. As a trusted part of the Scouting America Council network, the shop holds a unique position in supporting scouts, their families, and leaders by offering essential scouting gear, uniforms, and memorabilia. With a strong connection to the community and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service, the Springfield Scout Shop plays a vital role in enriching the scouting experience and contributing to the success of scouting activities in the area.

As a Store Manager at the Springfield Scout Shop, you will take on a leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the store's operations. This includes managing sales performance, ensuring profitability, handling inventory, and maintaining efficient daily operations. Working closely with the local Scouting America Council and affiliated camps, you will also build and nurture relationships that support and enhance the retail experience. The role offers a maximum of 40 hours per week with an hourly pay rate of $21.00, providing a flexible yet impactful employment opportunity.

The core responsibility of the Store Manager is to lead and develop a capable team that consistently meets and exceeds sales goals while delivering an enjoyable and knowledgeable customer experience. Your leadership will focus on recruiting, training, and coaching sales associates to become product experts and customer service champions. Scheduling and workforce management are key to ensuring that the store is adequately staffed to meet customer needs at all times.

You will also be tasked with implementing merchandising standards that attract and engage customers, as well as enforcing loss prevention policies to protect the store's assets. Performance management including evaluations and necessary counseling or disciplinary actions forms an integral part of your duties. Communication with the Territory Sales Supervisor will ensure alignment on goals and strategies, helping maintain smooth operations and sales growth.

This position does not only require retail management expertise but also a genuine passion for the scouting program, as familiarity with scouting requirements and culture can drive a stronger connection with customers and community partners. Being proficient in Microsoft Office applications and having basic financial literacy, particularly with Profit and Loss Statements, will equip you to better analyze and influence store performance metrics.

Ultimately, the Store Manager at Springfield Scout Shop is a pivotal role that combines business acumen, leadership, and community engagement to create a successful retail operation that supports and enriches the local scout community from the ground up.
