Job Description

Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions to families in need within the Fox Cities region. Known for its community-driven approach and commitment to sustainability, the organization relies heavily on volunteer support and donor contributions to uphold its mission of creating safe, decent, and affordable housing. Habitat for Humanity operates several facilities including ReStores, which are retail outlets that resell donated building materials and home goods to fund organization projects. These stores play a critical role in supporting the overall mission by generating revenue, encouraging community involvement, and promoting sustainable reuse of materials.

The position of ReStore Assistant Manager is pivotal within this structure, supporting the management team to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations of the ReStore. This role involves overseeing sales, merchandising, cash handling, donation acceptance, pricing, and customer service functions, all while ensuring a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for volunteers, donors, customers, and staff. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Store Manager but also assumes leadership and supervisory responsibilities in their absence. It requires someone detail-oriented, organized, and capable of balancing multiple priorities with a focus on high-quality customer experiences.

Employment for this position is full-time hourly, with a competitive wage range of $15.00 - $16.00 per hour. The role demands comprehensive knowledge of retail and warehouse management, volunteer coordination, and safety procedures to maintain efficient store operations. The Assistant Manager supports donation intake and inventory management, helps with pricing and markdown systems to maximize sales and inventory turnover, and ensures compliance with safety and operational guidelines. Responsibilities also include managing Point-of-Sale (POS) systems, preparing reports, and assisting with special events and marketing initiatives.

This role requires excellent communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse range of people including volunteers, donors, staff members, and customers. The Assistant Manager is expected to foster a positive and mission-focused work culture, emphasizing collaboration, continuous improvement, and community engagement. Training, supervision, and evaluation of store volunteers are integral to the role, with a strong emphasis on creating a supportive and affirming environment.

Candidates must be capable of safely operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and box trucks, supported by provided certifications like Forklift, First Aid, and CPR. Physical demands include regularly sitting, standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and POS systems is essential to manage operations and reporting effectively. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to sustaining Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity's mission of building homes and hope by ensuring ReStore operations are efficient, sustainable, and customer-focused.
