The Part-Time Retail Sales Associate position at CHEF'STORE offers an exciting opportunity to become a vital part of a dynamic retail team focused on stellar customer service and operational excellence. As a Retail Sales Associate, you will embrace multiple roles including cashier, stocker, and customer service representative, adapting to the needs of various departments such as Meat/Frozen, Produce/Dairy, and Dry Goods/Culinary Equipment and Supply. This role requires a passion for service, the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and the flexibility to support the store during special events like vendor fairs and sales floor resets.

Working approximately at $19.00 per hour, this part-time role demands open availability including weekends and may include duties such as freight handling. You will engage directly with customers to ensure they have an impeccable shopping experience, efficiently operate point-of-sale systems, and maintain sales floor inventory by restocking and rotating products. In addition, you will help oversee store cleanliness and safety, collaborate with store management on inventory and pricing tasks, and apply your knowledge of product labeling to ensure compliance with store standards.

The role is physically active, requiring continuous standing and walking with occasional lifting of goods ranging from light to heavy weights. Candidates must possess basic computer skills and the ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Working conditions can include exposure to temperature variations and moderate noise levels common to retail environments.

Job Requirements

Minimum 6-12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience required
Minimum one year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred
Ability to work part-time with open availability including weekends
Ability to perform physical activities including standing and walking continuously
Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 1-100 lbs consistently
Basic computer skills and cash handling experience
High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
Flexible schedule availability including holidays and weekends
Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and moderate noise levels
Ability to follow safety policies and practices diligently
Must be motivated, self-driven, and able to multitask
Possess solid common sense and basic mathematical aptitude.

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience
Minimum 6-12 months of retail cashier and/or stocking experience
Minimum one year of retail selling and/or customer service experience preferred
Ability to deliver exceptional customer service and build trusting relationships
Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and cash handling
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to work independently or within a team environment

Job Duties

Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF'STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with the store's customers
Utilize all tools and skills learned in the CHEF'STORE Way training and model the behavior in the store
Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately including scanning merchandise and weighing products
Ensure all merchandise is properly labeled and items' barcodes are accurately reflected in the system
Replenish the sales floor daily by down-stocking freight and rotating products using FIFO method
Assist in receiving inventory shipments and maintaining neat and orderly shelves while performing quality audits
Perform store opening and closing functions and participate in special store events such as vendor fairs and inventory processes
Ensure cleanliness and safety of the sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot and store entry areas
Gather carts from the parking lot and ensure all are clean and operable
Notify management of any safety issues and correct if possible
Provide fast, easy, efficient, and professional service to each customer
Utilize computer programs as needed including Microsoft Word and Excel
Perform receipt checking and cart-to-cart transfer at checkout
Report any discrepancies or low stock levels to store management.
