This position is a full-time role with a schedule ranging from 30 to 40 hours weekly, primarily focused on opening and morning shifts. The pay for this job starts at $21.622 per hour, with potential eligibility for overtime compensation. Candidate will be expected to fulfill a variety of responsibilities that intersect retail operations, customer service, and product management. The role involves active engagement with customers at the front end and on the sales floor, handling transactions accurately, and ensuring the store maintains high standards of cleanliness, safety, and product availability.
The front-end responsibilities of this role include performing sales and cash register functions efficiently and accurately using POS systems, weighing and scanning merchandise, checking receipts, and conducting cart-to-cart transfers during checkout. Attention to detail is critical, ensuring product barcodes are accounted for and reporting discrepancies to leadership. Additionally, the associate will participate in store opening and closing duties at the front end as assigned.
Stocking and sales floor activities form a significant part of the role, which includes inventory receipt, shelf stocking, product rotation following FIFO principles, price tag application, and maintaining product availability and visual appeal. The candidate will assist with inventory counts, price changes, and ensure proper labeling of all merchandise. Effective use of technology such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software is required to support these tasks.
Customer interaction is vital in this role, encompassing maintaining a clean and safe environment, managing shopping carts, and addressing safety concerns promptly. The associate will contribute to the overall safety and cleanliness of the facility by following established policies and using necessary cleaning equipment.
The work environment is fast-paced within a retail store exposed to various temperature ranges (-10 to 85 degrees) and moderate noise levels. Physical demands include standing and walking continuously, lifting and carrying weights up to 100 lbs frequently, and performing tasks that require manual dexterity, climbing, stooping, bending, and reaching. This demanding role requires a motivated, self-driven individual with good common sense and the ability to multi-task and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities but requires interaction with employees across all levels internally and with customers and suppliers externally. Candidates are expected to have basic computer skills, cash-handling experience, and adaptability to a flexible schedule including holidays and weekends. High school diploma or equivalent experience is required with preferred prior experience in retail cashiering or stocking. Job Duties
- Ensure all customers have an impeccable CHEF'STORE experience by developing and maximizing relationships with the store's customers
- Perform sales and cash functions in the POS efficiently and accurately including scanning merchandise and looking up products
- Perform cart-to-cart transfer of all products at checkout including visual inspection for tampering
- Perform duties as receipt checker verifying cart content vs. purchases
- Perform store opening and closing functions at the front end as assigned
- Increase sales and manage shrinkage by assisting customers and maintaining product availability on the sales floor
- Assist in receiving inventory shipments and stocking shelves neatly while ensuring product rotation and quality audits
- Label merchandise properly including tagging unscannable items and affixing catch weight labels
- Replenish sales floor daily by down stocking freight and adhering to FIFO
- Utilize computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and proprietary software
- Ensure facility cleanliness and safety including sales floor, front end, restrooms, parking lot, and store entry
- Gather and maintain shopping carts ensuring they are clean and operable
- Participate in inventory and cycle count process as needed
- Follow all safety policies and notify management of any safety issues
- Perform other duties as assigned by Store Management
