Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor dedicated to providing a wide range of innovative food and kitchen solutions to customers across the United States. As a prominent player in the foodservice industry, US Foods prides itself on its commitment to delivering quality food products and exceptional customer service through a culture grounded in strong core beliefs. These cultural beliefs include delivering excellence in every aspect of work, minimizing waste to increase efficiency, fostering teamwork to achieve shared success, encouraging open communication, and recognizing the importance of every team member’s contribution. The company serves a diverse customer base including restaurants, healthcare and hospitality institutions, and educational facilities, making it a vital link between food manufacturers and those who prepare food for consumption.
The CHEF'STORE Sales Associate position at US Foods is designed for individuals passionate about providing superior customer service and supporting the company’s strategic objective: Great Food, Made Easy. As a key member of the CHEF'STORE team, the Sales Associate plays a multifaceted role that involves working in various departments such as cashier operations, stock replenishment, and customer courtesy, adapting to the dynamic needs of the store and the customers it serves. This full-time opportunity offers a competitive starting pay rate of $16.49 per hour with a schedule that typically involves 30 to 40 hours weekly, including weekends and holidays. The role demands physical stamina and the ability to perform repetitive lifting of up to 90 pounds, underscoring the active and engaging nature of this retail position.
The Sales Associate’s primary responsibility is to deliver an impeccable shopping experience by developing and nurturing strong relationships with customers, utilizing training tools and company best practices to model exemplary service behaviors. This role requires performing sales transactions using point-of-sale technology efficiently and accurately, such as scanning merchandise, weighing products, and verifying pricing. Associates may also function as receipt checkers, ensuring purchase accuracy while maintaining store security.
On the sales floor, the associate takes part in stocking and merchandising duties, managing inventory flow through receiving and organizing shipments, and maintaining product quality via regular rotation and audits. They help ensure an appealing and accessible sales environment by labeling merchandise correctly and managing pricing updates as necessary. The position also includes contributing to store cleanliness and safety, maintaining common areas, assisting with carts, and supporting special store events like inventory counts and promotional fairs.
Interaction with both internal team members and external customers defines much of the Associate's daily workflow, requiring excellent communication skills and a commitment to team collaboration. The work environment is physically demanding, including exposure to varying temperature conditions, the use of equipment such as pallet jacks and ladders, and active engagement with store customers. This role is particularly suited for candidates who are motivated, adaptable, and possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
US Foods prides itself on fostering an inclusive workplace that values diversity and provides benefits such as health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and opportunities for professional development, ensuring its employees are supported and empowered to succeed. This role is an excellent fit for individuals seeking a challenging retail position with a reputable company that emphasizes customer service excellence, teamwork, and a culture of continuous improvement.
