Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States, dedicated to providing quality products and superior service to its customers. The company operates The Chef'Store, a retail division that emphasizes delivering great food made easy, offering a wide selection of food products, culinary equipment, and supplies tailored to both professional chefs and everyday consumers. US Foods places a strong emphasis on its cultural beliefs which include Deliver Excellence, Stop Waste, WIN Together, Speak Up, and You Matter. These principles guide the company’s commitment to fostering a supportive and productive work environment, encouraging teamwork, responsibility, and open communication among its employees.
The position of Chef'Store Sales Associate is a full-time role designed for individuals passionate about customer service and eager to participate in various store operations. The role involves a dynamic set of responsibilities including operating as a cashier, stocking shelves, and offering customer courtesy. The Sales Associate will work across multiple departments such as the front end, meat/frozen, produce/dairy, and dry goods/culinary equipment areas depending on customer needs and store demands. This role requires flexibility, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to maintaining a high standard of store presentation and customer satisfaction.
This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $18.65 to $20 per hour, reflecting the company’s dedication to valuing its employees. The shift typically concludes by 6:30 PM, providing a predictable schedule for those seeking work-life balance. US Foods supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits package available from day one, including health insurance, retirement benefits, paid time off, and more.
Key responsibilities for the Chef'Store Sales Associate include facilitating an impeccable shopping experience by leveraging knowledge and customer service techniques learned through the Chef'Store Way training. The associate will perform POS transactions such as scanning, weighing products, and handling payments with accuracy and efficiency. Stocking and inventory management duties involve receiving shipments, rotating products on shelves properly, labeling, and ensuring product availability following FIFO (First In, First Out) principles. Sales Associates also aid in store events, price changes, and inventory counts, contributing to the overall smooth operation of the store.
In terms of physical demands, the role requires the ability to handle heavy freight up to 100 pounds frequently, standing and walking continuously during the shift, and performing various motions such as stooping, bending, and climbing. The work environment is primarily retail with exposure to varying temperatures and occasional outdoor conditions. This physically active position is ideal for candidates who are motivated, self-driven, and able to work well independently or as part of a team.
The ideal candidate will have at least 6-12 months of retail cashier or stocking experience, with preference given to those with a year or more in retail selling or customer service. The company values candidates with good common sense, logical thinking, basic math skills, and proficiency in cash handling and basic computer skills. The ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, is essential. Importantly, US Foods fosters an inclusive workplace environment and is an equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and equal opportunity for all employees.
This position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals seeking to develop a career in retail foodservice distribution while working with a respected leader in the industry. With competitive pay, a supportive work culture, and a comprehensive benefits program, US Foods invites passionate and dedicated individuals to join their community of food people and contribute to delivering excellence every day.
