At the Michaels store in Huntsville-East, Alabama, we are seeking a part-time Event Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and facilitate engaging events within the store, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes that provide a fun and creative environment for guests of all ages. This role involves delivering friendly and efficient customer service, assisting guests with shopping needs, and ensuring a smooth checkout experience. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for managing multiple events simultaneously, communicating with clients and team members, and overseeing event logistics such as set-up, breakdown, and maintaining store cleanliness and safety standards. A key aspect of the role is engaging participants with interactive activities like face painting and craft project instructions, as well as managing party add-ons like goody bags and balloons to meet company standards. Administrative tasks including answering emails and completing paperwork also play a crucial role in this position. Candidates should be energetic and enthusiastic, with excellent people skills and the ability to effectively interact with guests ranging from children to seniors. Experience working with children’s events and retail or customer service background are important qualifications. Physical demands include the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy boxes, and navigate throughout the store environment safely. Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including kids birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities like face painting
  • Facilitate event add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to company standards
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after each event
  • Help customers shop and locate products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote and enroll customers in Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer surveys
  • Assist with Omni channel processes including Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • Complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Maintain positive interactions and serve as a role model
  • Cross train in Custom Framing sales and production
  • Engage in daily store cleanliness including sweeping, vacuuming, and dusting
  • Perform other duties as assigned
