Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, as well as a robust online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company is known for offering a vast selection of arts and crafts materials, custom and specialty framing products through its subsidiary Artistree, and various creative services designed to inspire customers of all ages and skill levels. Michaels prides itself on being the best place for all things creative, providing a welcoming environment for individuals to craft, create, and celebrate life's special moments. The company is committed to the wellbeing of its team members by offering comprehensive benefits and fostering an inclusive workplace where diversity and creativity thrive.
The role of Event Coordinator at Michaels is a dynamic retail position based in the PITT-NORTH HILLS, PA store. This position is centered on planning, coordinating, and facilitating various in-store events, including children's birthday parties, craft classes, and other community gatherings. The Event Coordinator plays a pivotal role in creating a fun, engaging, and stress-free experience for guests by managing multiple events simultaneously and ensuring that every detail is executed to the highest standards. This includes welcoming and interacting with clients of all ages, demonstrating craft projects, managing party logistics such as goody bags and balloons, and communicating effectively with both customers and store team members.
In addition to event management, the Event Coordinator is expected to provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers in finding products, processing quick and friendly checkouts, and promoting Michaels’ rewards programs and credit card enrollments. This role also requires participation in daily operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining store recovery standards, and supporting store cleanliness and safety programs. The Event Coordinator is cross-trained in Custom Framing sales and production, enhancing the customer experience and store offerings.
The ideal candidate will be energetic and enthusiastic, with excellent communication and organizational skills, and experience working with children’s events. They must be able to handle job stress effectively while maintaining a positive and respectful demeanor. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy boxes, and work in various store environments including climate-controlled public retail areas and potentially non-climate-controlled stock rooms. This role may require working nights, weekends, and early mornings. Michaels is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals with disabilities.
This full-time or part-time position offers comprehensive benefits such as health insurance (medical, dental, and vision), paid time off, tuition assistance, and generous employee discounts, supporting team members' wellbeing and professional growth.
