Our Castleton, Indiana store is currently seeking an enthusiastic and organized Event Coordinator to plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of in-store events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes, that engage guests and provide memorable, stress-free experiences. This position plays a crucial role in bringing the Michaels brand promises to life by ensuring customers encounter a welcoming, fun, and engaging environment. As an Event Coordinator, you will be the face of the store’s event offerings—managing everything from initial client communication and event setup to execution and cleanup, all while maintaining a high standard of service and safety.
In addition to event planning, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service by assisting guests in finding the products they need, facilitating a fast and friendly checkout process, and promoting store programs like the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. Your role also includes operational duties such as unloading deliveries, organizing merchandise displays to ensure that the store's appearance meets company standards, and supporting store initiatives that enhance overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Success in this role demands a strong ability to multitask, excellent communication skills to effectively interact with clients and team members, and a creative approach to problem-solving to adapt events based on customer feedback. Experience working with children and children’s events is particularly valuable, as is a proactive and energetic personality that makes the store a welcoming place for guests of all ages. Physical stamina is required to stand for long periods, move throughout the store, lift heavy items, and perform routine cleaning tasks to maintain a safe and inviting environment.

Job Requirements

Job Duties
- Plan and coordinate multiple events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
- engage with clients of all ages by creating an environment of fun and creativity
- demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
- facilitate and implement party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons to company standards
- communicate events with clients and store team members
- complete administrative tasks including answering emails, making phone calls, and paperwork
- adjust event plans based on client feedback and needs
- create backup or emergency plans for events
- ensure client satisfaction for scheduled events
- uphold the company's cleanliness and safety standards
- help customers shop and locate products
- provide fast and friendly checkout experience
- promote Rewards program and Private Label Credit Card enrollments
- educate customers on Voice of Customer surveys
- assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store and Ship From Store processes
- participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
- complete merchandise recovery and maintenance
- perform Store in Stock Optimization and AD set duties as assigned
- support shrink and safety programs
- adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
- interact respectfully with others and promote company values
- cross train in Custom Framing selling and production
- participate in daily store cleanliness activities
