Within the Michaels store located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the Event Coordinator position plays a vital role in enhancing the customer experience by planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging in-store events such as children's birthday parties and craft classes. This role involves creating an inviting and fun atmosphere that encourages creativity and enjoyment for guests of all ages, ranging from young children to adults. The Event Coordinator is responsible not only for organizing these events but also for actively engaging with clients by demonstrating craft projects, performing fun activities like face painting, and handling event add-ons including goody bags and balloons to meet company standards.

In addition to event management, the coordinator provides excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with their product needs and ensuring a quick, friendly checkout experience. The role supports store operations through tasks such as unloading deliveries, stocking merchandise, and maintaining store organization and safety standards. Enhanced customer interactions include promoting the rewards program and private label credit cards, assisting with omnichannel processes like buy-online-pickup-in-store and ship-from-store, and cross-training in custom framing sales and production. This multifaceted position requires strong organizational and communication skills, creativity, and an outgoing personality to effectively manage multiple events while delivering memorable customer experiences. The store environment demands physical stamina for extended periods of standing, lifting, and moving throughout the store. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events including children's birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages by fostering a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct participants in craft projects and perform activities like face painting
  • Facilitate party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons according to standards
  • Communicate event details with clients and store team members
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback and create emergency backup plans
  • Ensure client satisfaction and uphold cleanliness and safety standards during events
  • Assist customers with shopping and locating products
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experiences
  • Promote rewards program and credit card enrollments
  • Educate customers on Voice of Customer survey
  • Assist with omnichannel processes including BOPIS and Ship From Store
  • Participate in truck unload, stocking, and planogram processes
  • Maintain merchandise recovery and store presentation
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Foster a positive and respectful work environment
  • Cross-train in custom framing sales and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
