The Michaels store located in Omaha-Papillion, NE is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Event Coordinator who thrives in a customer-focused retail environment. This role is designed for someone skilled at planning and facilitating engaging craft events, including children's birthday parties, within the store. The Event Coordinator is responsible for coordinating multiple events simultaneously to provide a fun, stress-free, and memorable experience for guests of all ages. Responsibilities include designing, instructing, and managing craft projects, face painting, party add-ons, and other activities that foster creativity and celebrate milestones.

In addition to event coordination, this role blends customer service duties that support guests through their shopping journey by helping locate products, explaining benefits of loyalty programs, and ensuring a smooth and friendly checkout experience. The Event Coordinator also supports essential store operational tasks such as unloading trucks, stocking merchandise, maintaining planograms, and upholding safety and cleanliness standards. Strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a passion for working with children and all types of customers are essential. The position requires the ability to multitask, adapt plans based on client feedback, and uphold company policies and safety programs.

Job Duties

  • Plan and coordinate multiple events simultaneously including children’s birthday parties and craft classes
  • Engage with clients of all ages to create a fun and creative environment
  • Demonstrate and instruct party participants in craft projects and activities such as face painting
  • Facilitate and implement party add-ons like goody bags and balloons
  • Communicate effectively with clients and store team members regarding events
  • Complete administrative tasks including emails, phone calls, and paperwork
  • Adjust event plans based on client feedback and ensure client satisfaction
  • Set up, break down, and clean before and after events
  • Help customers shop, locate products and provide solutions
  • Provide fast and friendly checkout experience
  • Promote and enroll customers in rewards and credit card programs
  • Assist with Buy Online Pickup in Store (BOPIS) and Ship From Store (SFS) processes
  • Participate in truck unloading, stocking, and implementing planograms
  • Conduct merchandise recovery and store maintenance
  • Perform Store in Stock Optimization (SISO) and AD set duties
  • Support shrink and safety programs
  • Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and company policies
  • Exhibit positive and respectful interaction with customers and team members
  • Cross train in custom framing selling and production
  • Participate in daily store cleanliness activities
