Job Description

The Michaels Companies Inc. is the leading destination for arts and crafts enthusiasts in North America with over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada, as well as a strong online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has established itself as the go-to retailer for all things creative by providing a wide range of products that inspire imagination and help bring artistic visions to life. The company also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, further expanding its footprint in the creative retail industry. Michaels is dedicated to fueling creativity and celebration for people of all ages, fostering an inclusive environment where customers and team members alike can explore the joy of creating and celebrating milestones. At Michaels, team members are the heart of the company and play an essential role in delivering exceptional customer service and helping customers find inspiration.

This role is based in the Michaels store located in Cedar Park, Texas, where the primary responsibility is to plan, coordinate, and facilitate a variety of events including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The Event Coordinator creates a fun, engaging, and stress-free environment that caters to guests ranging from young children to senior patrons. This position combines customer service, event management, and operational duties to ensure a memorable experience for all visitors. The Event Coordinator manages multiple events simultaneously, maintaining a high standard of creativity and professionalism. This includes performing craft project demonstrations, face painting, facilitating party enhancements like goody bags and balloons, and handling all communication with clients and internal store teams.

Beyond event planning, the role encompasses assisting customers throughout their shopping experience by locating products, educating them about store benefits like the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards, and ensuring a swift and friendly checkout. The position also involves performing operational tasks such as truck unloads, merchandise stocking and recovery, maintaining planograms, and adhering to company safety and loss prevention policies. The Event Coordinator upholds company standards of cleanliness, safety, and service excellence, including cleaning before and after events and participating in daily store maintenance activities.

Successful candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills, a cheerful and enthusiastic personality, and the ability to manage stressful situations with composure. Experience working with children and hosting children’s events is highly valued. Strong communication capabilities—both verbal and written—are essential, as is the ability to multitask and adapt event plans based on customer feedback. The role requires physical stamina to remain standing for extended periods, lift and carry merchandise, and access high shelves safely.

Michaels offers a supportive work environment with a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Team members receive a variety of benefits, including healthcare options, 401(k) with employer match, employee discounts, and more. This role not only provides the opportunity to contribute creatively but also offers room for personal and professional growth within a company dedicated to inspiring creativity in communities across North America.
